The Forest

"The Forest is the final reiteration of a developing work by Rebecca Delange, the genesis of which has been exhibited previously during residencies in Estonia and Germany. While its title and biomorphic sculptural forms suggest an exploration of natural structures, Delange also uses the idea of the forest as a platform to explore a multitude of ideas. Chief among these is the expression of the immaterial (thought, emotion, etc.) in a material (in this case sculptural) assemblage. In Delange’s installation constructions of plasticine, wax, clay, dough, string, rope, wood, glass, salt and sequins, the reuse of previous works and found materials alludes to entropy and transformation. As such, The Forest becomes an accumulation of past experience, materials and locations that form a temporality of environment that, in varying degrees, permeates all five projects presented in Innovators 3."
